Meyer Center for Special Children Receives Grant from The Greenville Community Foundation’s The Walter Johnson Trust Staff Development Fund

The Meyer Center for Special Children, Greenville, SC, announced today that it has received a grant of $1,236.00 from the Greenville Community Foundation. This grant was awarded by the Community Foundation of Greenville through the Walter Johnson Trust Staff Training Grants.

This grant will enable Meyer Center staff to attend the 2007 National Charter School conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “As a charter school, it is important that the Meyer Center is aware of concerns involving charter schools nationally. We are grateful to the Community Foundation for this valuable support,” stated Louise Anthony, Meyer Center Executive Director.

The mission of the Meyer Center is to provide education and therapy for preschool children with disabilities. In 2006, more than 130 children received services at the Center. Founded by Dr. Leslie Meyer in 1954, the Meyer Center is a DSS-licensed childcare provider, Medicaid rehabilitation facility, and a Charter School for the School District of Greenville County. The Center receives funding from the United Way.
