Planned Giving

How will you be remembered? Please consider the Meyer Center when planning your estate.

Here are 4 easy ways to create a legacy and extend your love for the children at the Meyer Center for Special Children in your Will:

  • Specific bequest- With this type of gift, you give a specific item (e.g., jewelry) to a loved one or the Meyer Center. If the item has been disposed of before one's passing, the bequest is not effective and no claim can be made to any other property.
  • General bequest- This gift is given outright, usually as a specific sum of money. If there are insufficient funds in your estate to cover the bequest, other assets will be sold for cash to honor your wishes for the Meyer Center for Special Children.
  • Residuary bequest- This is a gift of all remaining assets after taxes have been paid.
  • Contingent bequest- This is a bequest made on condition that a certain event must occur before distribution to the beneficiary. For example, “I give $100,000 to my daughter Jane, provided she enrolls in college before age 21.”  If Jane were not to do so, the gift would then go to the Meyer Center for Special Children.

Please be sure to contact an estate planning attorney if you should decide to include the Meyer Center in your Will.
